Description

Hi All,

I am excited to announce that the next Queer Tango fundamentals series starts at 11am this Sunday, May 2nd and runs for 5 weeks. There are only 6 spots left in the class, so I recommend signing up right away to secure your place. Details are below.

When and where does class meet?
Sundays, 5/2-5/30 11AM to 12:30PM
at The Loft in Pioneer Square
208 S Washington St #200 Seattle, 98104

What is Queer Seattle Tango?

Queer Seattle Tango exists to provide a tango environment that specifically welcomes women who want to dance with women, men who want to dance with men, and all people who choose to dance outside of traditional gender roles. Queer Seattle Tango events are hosted, run and attended by people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, and our allies. We offer weekly classes for beginner and intermediate students, promote a monthly milonga (a fancy, dress-up tango party), and organize bi-weekly tango practice outings.

How does the class series work?

Each class session will begin with a 20 minute warm-up and review of previous material. This will be followed by about 45 minutes of instruction on new concepts followed by open floor time for review and practical integration of the material.

Because tango is a challenging dance to learn, students will be encouraged to choose a role (lead or follow) for the 5 week series, with the understanding that they are not then stuck in that role forever... it is merely a starting point. Students who follow during the first class series are welcome to re-take the class as a leader the next time around, and vice versa. Discounted tuition is offered to students who re-take the Intro class in the other role.

Do I need a partner?
You do not need a partner to attend this class.

Who can attend this class series?

If you indentify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, or queer, this class is for you. If you identify as straight but like Max's teaching or like dancing at the Loft, and you want to help to spread the word amongst your gay friends, that would be greatly appreciated, and you are welcome to take the class as an ally to the queer community.

Enrollment will be limited to 16 students so that the instructors can give individual feedback and attention to each attendee during every class.

When/Where/How much?/Sign me up!

Cost is $75 per person for the session and includes a total of 7.5 hours of class and practice time. Email Max at dancekepler@gmail.com to pre-register. We expect this class to fill up fast.

How can I get more information?

About Max

Max started dancing tango in 1997 while living in Los Angeles. She founded the UCSD Argentine tango group in 2001 and co-founded San Diego's first weekly Women's practica in 2004. While living in Eugene, Oregon, from 2005-2009, Max taught and danced equally often as a leader and as a follower. There she worked with LezDance, Eugene's long-established lesbian ballroom dance club, taught at the Eugene Tango Center, and helped build the blossoming Eugene tango fusion community.
